Spandan is a senior lawyer with nearly 18 years of experience across infrastructure, finance, and insolvency. He was a Partner at Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas, New Delhi (2017–2023) before founding SBAC Law in 2024.
He specialises in restructuring, insolvency, and special situations, advising lenders, committees of creditors, resolution professionals, and bidders in some of India’s largest insolvency cases. He has been closely involved in India’s insolvency regime since its inception, including leading creditor-side work in two of the RBI “Dirty Dozen” cases—Monnet Ispat Limited and Bhushan Power & Steel Limited—handling complex multi-creditor processes, bidder disputes, promoter challenges, and litigation up to the Supreme Court, including the landmark Swiss Ribbons case.
Since starting SBAC Law, Spandan has also advised promoters on defensive insolvency actions and buyers on acquisitions of distressed assets. His experience includes major restructurings, enforcement of security, and asset sales across real estate, power, roads, telecom, and manufacturing sectors.
In addition, Spandan has extensive experience in project finance, infrastructure M&A, and banking and debt capital markets. He regularly advises banks, DFIs, NBFCs, PE funds, and infrastructure companies on financing, M&A, ECBs, structured debt, and marquee debt capital market transactions.
Spandan is a graduate of NLSIU (2007), a Visiting Faculty on Banking Laws at NLSIU (2023–24), and a non-executive director at Supergo Analytics Private Limited.
